Sony Ericsson officially confirmed that the first 2011 Xperia smartphones will be upgraded to Android 4.0 starting from end March/early April 2012. The first smartphones to get the upgrade are Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray. Soon after, starting from end April/early May, Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini and mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active as well as Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will get their upgrades.

Black color model is expected to be available in store in the fourth week of December, but no exact release date is available for the moment. The iPhone Dev-Team has released a RedSn0w (0.9.9b9d) update fixing an issue for old bootrom iPhone 3GS owners.

 iPhone3GS owners in our comments section below noticed a problem with the untethered jailbreak available for the old-bootrom 3GS. We’ve corrected that problem in 0.9.9b9d. If you have an old-bootrom 3GS and have already used last night’s redsn0w on it, you can re-run it again without losing anything. Just use this new version, go to Extras->IPSW and manually select the 5.0.1 IPSW, then go back and Jailbreak it again (but you can uncheck Cydia because it’s already installed).

Panasonic Corporation, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., SanDisk Corporation, Sony Corporation and Toshiba Corporation today announced that they have reached an agreement in principle to collaborate on a new content protection technology for flash memory cards such as SD Cards and various storage devices. Under the "Next Generation Secure Memory Initiative,"the five companies will start preparing for licensing and promotion of HD (high-definition)-capable security for SD Cards and embedded memory for use in advanced consumer applications such as tablets and smartphones.

AT&T will not Acquire T-Mobile

AT&T officially announced that it has ended its bid to acquire T-Mobile, following actions by the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice to block the merger.

AT&T will incur a pre-tax "breakup fee" of $4 billion in the fourth quarter and will enter into a roaming agreement with T-Mobile's parent company, Deutsche Telekom. Read the full press release after the break.
