Flickr debuts new Uploadr - HTML 5 based, Drag and Drop UI and more

Flickr Uploadr

Yahoo-owned image hosting service, Flickr introduced a new Flickr Uploadr. Based on HTML 5 technology, Flickr Uploadr (uploader) allows you to add photos by using drag and drop interface instead of uploading manually. It will show your preview thumbnails, where supported, so you can manage and reorder photos before they hit your photostream. You can also easily zoom, rotate or sort your photos by title.

You can now easily add titles, descriptions and tags or even tag your friends in photos, change licensing, content type and other advanced options right from the uploadr page before publishing to your photostream.

Flickr also notes that you will now see a boost in uploading speeds of up to 30 percent, while "some" international users may see somewhere between 50-60 percent. As for file sizes, the limits have been bumped to 50MB for Pro users and 30MB for free users.

Uploadr's set to be rolling out over the "next couple of weeks," and is currently offering browser support for Chrome, Safari and Firefox.
