Sony Mobile has confirmed that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for 2011 Xperia smartphones will start from mid-April 2012.
The first Xperia models to receive the upgrade will be Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray. Following on, Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will receive their scoop starting from the end of May/early June.
Previously, Sony stated that Android 4.0 update for the Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray would commence from end of March/early April. This implies that Sony delayed the ICS update for Xperia line-up and not only that now you won’t receive any update requests or notifications and the update will be available for download via PC Companion and Bridge for Mac (i.e. not over the air via 3G or WiFi).

T-Mobile USA confirmed that HTC Amaze 4G will get the taste of Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 but no timeline for the release of update has been given yet.
HTC and T-Mobile are working together to provide software updates, including one that improves the experience of the HTC Amaze 4G and incorporates Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The release and schedule for future updates are yet to be determined. This document will be updated when details become available.

Samsung has officially released the so called 'value pack' for Samsung Galaxy S in Korea. This value pack is based on Gingerbread Android 2.3 but it contains features that were released for the first time in Ice Cream Sandwich including face unlock, ability to take photos while recording video and launcher improvements.
Galaxy S 'Value Pack' update is expected to be available in other countries in the coming weeks. Users can upgrade their devices as long as they have Kies 2.0 and a bit of free storage space.

Google has officially announced that it is rolling out Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich, to UMTS/GSM Nexus S, Xoom Wi-Fi, and HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus device. The latest update includes "stability improvements, better camera performance, smoother screen rotation, improved phone number recognition and more." Google also says that more devices will get ICS update in the coming weeks.

LG Display announced today that it has started mass production of the world's first plastic electronic paper display (EPD) for use in E-Books. The 6-inch XGA (1024x768), e-ink, plastic EPD is expected to revolutionize the E-Book market with its advancements in functionality and design.
Innovations in Functionality and Design
The world's first plastic EPD from LG Display offers users a paper-like reading experience with a plastic substrate that is as slim as cell phone protection film, and a flexible design that allows bending at a range of 40 degrees from the center of the screen. Compared to glass EPD of the same size and resolution, LG Display's plastic EPD realizes a super slim thickness of 0.7mm which is 1/3 slimmer than existing glass EPD; as well as a weight of 14g which is more than 1/2 lighter.
E-Book users have long expressed a desire for more durable EPD, since around 10% of them have damaged their product screens from accidentally dropping or hitting them. When LG Display's plastic EPD was put through repeated drop tests, from 1.5m above the ground or the average height of reading when standing, no damage resulted. When put through a break/scratch test involving hitting the display with a small urethane hammer, no scratches or breakage resulted.
As EPD gets thinner, lighter, and more durable with the introduction of plastic EPD, E-Books will be able to offer certain unique benefits compared to smart devices and tablets, including reduced eye fatigue and more efficient electricity consumption in addition to lower prices.
A Manufacturing Breakthrough
LG Display developed a unique technique to utilize the high TFT process, typically employed in general LCD manufacturing and with temperatures exceeding 350 degrees, in the production of its plastic EPD. By overcoming the obstacles associated with applying the existing production process to heat susceptible plastic, LG Display achieved a breakthrough with the successful mass production of plastic EPD able to maintain strong durability in high temperatures.
Availability
The world's first mass-produced plastic EPD from LG Display will first be supplied to ODM companies in China, followed by completed products to be released in Europe at the beginning of next month.
NTT DoCoMo announced the "docomo NEXT series GALAXY Note SC-05D" LTE smartphone equipped with a 5.3-inch WXGA HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera and 2MP front facing cam. It also feature S-Pen (stylus), Bluetooth, WiFi and a 2,500mAh battery. Galaxy Note release is scheduled for April 6th and will be available in ceramic white colour.

Today China Telecom and Nokia unveiled the Nokia 800C, the first CDMA Windows Phone in China. The phone - a China-tuned version of Nokia’s popular Lumia 800 features a 3.7-inch AMOLED ClearBlack curved touchscreen display, a 1.4 GHz processor, 8 MP camera with exclusive Carl Zeiss optics, HD video playback, 16GB of internal user memory and 25GB SkyDrive storage.

Google is launching the new Account Activity feature today, an opt-in tool that sends users monthly reports to help them gain more insight into their usage of Google services.
Andreas Tuerk, a Google product manager, described the new feature as
"Knowing more about your own account activity also can help you take steps to protect your Google Account. For example, if you notice sign-ins from countries where you haven’t been or devices you’ve never owned, you can change your password immediately and sign up for the extra level of security provided by 2-step verification"
It’s just a starting Google says it plans to incorporate even more services over the next few months.

LG is all set to launch its latest Android smartphones in India starting with quad-core LG Optimus 4X HD which will be available sometime in May. The Optimus 4X HD comes with a 4.7 inch HD display, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 1.5GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, an 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front facing camera.

Motorola i867, the newest Android-powered smartphone with Push To Talk for iDEN technology, is now available from Nextel in the Brazilian market.

AT&T is in no mood to release Windows Phone 8107 software update as one of the AT&T community manager confirmed on community forum by saying
I got some news about the Windows Phone 8107 update and wanted to share it with you all.
We are not currently planning to offer the Windows 8107 update.
I don’t have any additional information right now. If and when I get details, I will update the thread.
It comes as surprise that AT&T won’t push 8107 update which fixes various issues, including the most famous "keyboard bug". Keep an eye on community as wireless carrier will provide some additional information on that matter in near future may be they will change their mind.

The 7-inch tablet the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 back unveiled back in February is all set to be launched in South West Asia in April. This Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) powered tablet will be available in the Asian market as Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 310 in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB variants.
The Galaxy Tab 2 310 comes with a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 3MP rear camera, VGA front camera, Bluetooth, A GPS, HSPA+ support and 4,000mAh battery but there is no word on pricing yet.
Apple today announced plans to initiate a dividend and share repurchase program commencing later this year.
Subject to declaration by the Board of Directors, the Company plans to initiate a quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share sometime in the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2012, which begins on July 1, 2012.
Additionally, the Company’s Board of Directors has authorized a $10 billion share repurchase program commencing in the Company’s fiscal 2013, which begins on September 30, 2012. The repurchase program is expected to be executed over three years, with the primary objective of neutralizing the impact of dilution from future employee equity grants and employee stock purchase programs.
“We have used some of our cash to make great investments in our business through increased research and development, acquisitions, new retail store openings, strategic prepayments and capital expenditures in our supply chain, and building out our infrastructure. You’ll see more of all of these in the future,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Even with these investments, we can maintain a war chest for strategic opportunities and have plenty of cash to run our business. So we are going to initiate a dividend and share repurchase program.”
“Combining dividends, share repurchases, and cash used to net-share-settle vesting RSUs, we anticipate utilizing approximately $45 billion of domestic cash in the first three years of our programs,” said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s CFO. “We are extremely confident in our future and see tremendous opportunities ahead.”

Sprint today issued the following statement regarding the spectrum hosting agreement it signed with LightSquared in June 2011. Per the agreement, Sprint agreed to deploy and operate an LTE network capable of utilizing the 1.6 GHz spectrum licensed to or available to LightSquared. The agreement contained contingencies related to possible interference issues with LightSquared's spectrum, including Sprint's right to terminate the agreement if certain conditions were not met by LightSquared.
Per the terms of the agreement, Sprint has returned $65 million in prepayments LightSquared made to cover costs that were not ultimately incurred by Sprint.
In response, LightSquared has issued a formal response, saying that the contract termination is in "the best interests of both parties".
Microsoft is preparing to officially launch its new mobile operating system codenamed as Windows Phone Tango in China as they sent out invitations to Chinese Press for their Windows Phone 7.5 launch event (see above image).
Looks like HTC didn’t wait for the Microsoft and want to be the first in China as they officially announced the country’s first Windows smartphone HTC Triumph (know as HTC Titan), which is now available.
