Nokia Siemens Networks introduces three TD-LTE devices

Nokia Siemens Dongle 7210

Nokia Siemens Networks has launched three new 4G devices at PT Expo Comm in Beijing, China. The devices allow consumers to enjoy broadband access at up to 102 Mbps (Megabits per second) downlink and 51 Mbps uplink to support data-intensive services on TD-LTE (time division-duplex, long term evolution) networks. The devices address broadband access requirements that range from basic connectivity in under-served regions, to high-speed mobile broadband in dense metro areas. All are now available to customers.

A plug-and-play USB dongle, the Nokia Siemens Networks USB-lte 7210 offers mobile broadband to laptops and compatible tablets whilst on the move. Nokia Siemens Networks CPEi-lte 7212 is a wireless router built for indoor use that provides fixed wireless connectivity to TD-LTE services via WiFi or Ethernet. A further wireless router, Nokia Siemens Networks CPEo-lte 7210, built to withstand the weather and be mounted outdoors, can also provide broadband access.

The devices are commercially available to support 4G services using the TD-LTE standard in the 2.3 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands allocated for wireless broadband in many parts of the globe.

Samsung Intros SE-208BW Smart Media Hub

Samsung Smart MEdia Hub

Samsung announced today its new smart media hub, the SE-208BW optical disk drive (ODD).

The SE-208BW is a new product that combines an external ODD with wireless connectivity to provide wider end-user benefits. Offering traditional CD/DVD playback and writing capabilities, the SE-208BW features Samsung's own APP to enable smartphone, tablet and PC users to wirelessly stream and play CDs and DVDs on their smart devices to listen to music or watch their favorite movies.

The SE-208BW breaks new ground for ODD's by adding wireless access point (AP) and repeater functionality to connect the drive to an Ethernet LAN cable. For users with an existing AP that suffers from weak signal strength, the SE-208BW also serves as a repeater to amplify Wi-Fi signals and widen the connectivity range across the home.

For users looking for smart backup solutions, the SE-208BW can wirelessly connect to a smartphone or tablet PC to easily backup data such as pictures, video or contacts onto CDs or DVDs without ever turning on a desktop or notebook computer. The SE-208BW also supports Dynamic DNS which enables the drive to work as a private server. Simply connect an external hard disk drive or USB memory drive and the Internet LAN cable to the SE-208BW and it becomes a personal Cloud Server.

For TV's with DLNA compatibility, the SE-208AB comes with Allshare allowing users to view drive content through the TV menu to play and record multimedia files onto CDs and DVDs. The drive compliments any home entertainment system with a sleek hi-gloss surface built around a slim case measuring 140mmx21.5mmx200mm. The drive also offers a USB power interface that eliminates the need for a separate electrical outlet.

The SE-208BW drive is engineered to be compatible with all major operating systems, including Win7 and Mac OS. The drive boasts Buffer Under Run technology to prevent errors that may result from writing speeds that exceed data transfer speeds, while also enabling PC multitasking.

The external drive provides a variety of speeds across different data media types including: 24X CD-ROM, 24X CD-RW, 8X DVD reading and 8X DVD±R, 5X DVD-RAM, 6X DVD+R Dual Layer, 6X DVD-R Dual Layer, 8X DVD+RW, 6X DVD-RW recording.

The SE-208BW will be available the beginning of 2012.
