Acer’s LumiRead e-Reader to launch at IFA

Acer is now ready to gain popularity in e-reader category by launching its Kindle challenger, the 6 inch E Ink LumiRead in Germany (in October).
Acer has already signed agreements with Barnes&Noble, a leading US company offering over 1 million titles in its eBooks store. Acer eReader enables consumers a different book shopping experience – with ISBN barcode scanner! When browsing in the bookstore, you can simply use the barcode scanner to capture the information of your favourite books, add to your wish-list, and purchase the digital version whenever they are available in bookstore in collaboration with Acer.
Acer LumiRead comes with a 6-inch display; it’s only few millimetres thick and permits to carry an entire library of up to 1,500 books in just a handful of grams. With non-glare e-Ink display, it delivers a paper-like reading experience, even under bright sunlight.
Acer LumiRead is provided with a built-in Internet browser to let you search for book information when Internet connection is available. It supports the most popular eBook formats (PDF, ePUB, TXT, HTML, MOBI, RTF, DOC, and CHM), as well as audio books in MP3 format across the globe. Equipped with 2GB flash memory, it can hold more than a thousand of books and its capacity can be easily expanded just by adding a MicroSD card.
Unfortunately, the exact price has not actually been disclosed, but the rumor implies that it will be along the lines of 250 Euro, the equivalent of $316.
