AMD launches AMD Opteron 6200 and 4200 Series processors

AMD today announced immediate launch and availability of its AMD Opteron 6200 and 4200 Series processors (formerly code-named "Interlagos" and "Valencia").

The new AMD Opteron processors are designed to give enterprises:

• Better performance for business with up to 84 percent higher performance
• Increased scalability for Virtualization with up to 73 percent more memory bandwidth, enabling servers to host more virtual machines and also handle increasing workload.
• More efficient economics for the Cloud with half the power per core , requiring 2/3 less floor space and up to 2/3 lower platform price.

AMD also announced the expansion of its 2012 roadmap with the addition of the new AMD Opteron 3000 Series platform. The AMD Opteron 3000 Series platform is targeted to the ultra-dense, ultra-low power 1P Web Hosting/Web Serving and Microserver markets. AMD enters into Memory Market, introducing DDR3 RAM

AMD announced North American retail availability of the first AMD Memory branded desktop system memory modules, debuting with partners Patriot Memory and VisionTek.

AMD Memory is available at three different levels - 2GB, 4GB and 8GB sizes - in a range of price points and speeds. The Entertainment category will feature 1333 MHz and 1600 MHz speed RAM, designed for quiet Home Theater PC applications. The Performance version supports speed up to 1600 MHz with low latency and comes in matched pairs. AMD Radeon HD 6000 Series gets DisplayPort 1.2 Certification

The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) today announced that select AMD Radeon HD 6000 series graphics products, including the AMD Radeon HD 6990, the world's fastest graphics card, are the first source devices to achieve DisplayPort Version 1.2 certification. AMD received certification from Granite River Labs, a Santa Clara, California-based VESA DisplayPort Authorized Test Center (ATC), for support of DisplayPort's new 5.4Gbps (gigabits-per-second) HBR2 (High Bit Rate 2) data link rate. These same AMD Radeon HD 6000 graphics products also include additional features from the DisplayPort 1.2 standard, such as multi-stream transport (MST) and Full High Definition (HD) 3D stereoscopic display support.

By doubling the maximum data transfer rate to 21.6Gbps, the HBR2 link rate offered by VESA's DisplayPort Version 1.2 standard significantly enhances display and audio performance. This includes increased display resolution, color depths and refresh rates, improved support for Full HD 3D stereoscopic displays, and with MST, better support for multiple monitors connected to a single DisplayPort receptacle. These features make DisplayPort the best choice for high performance PC gaming, prompting increased demand for DisplayPort 1.2 certified products.

HP unveils Elitebook 8460w, 8560w and 8760w notebook

HP today announced a new lineup of powerful mobile workstations, the HP EliteBook 8760w, 8560w and 8460w feature second-generation Intel Core i7 and i5 dual- and quad-core processors.

HP also unveiled the HP Z210 Workstation, demonstrating its continued investment in the desktop and mobile workstations market, where it holds leading market share.

Samsung introduced the new Samsung Notebook Series 5 ULTRA, powered by a 2nd generation Intel Core i5 processor; combined with ExpressCache system by Diskeeper and a powerful AMD Radeon HD graphics card, it delivers incredible experiences packed in a thin and light form factor.

Available in 13-inch and 14-inch, the Series 5 ULTRA reveals its performance through an Intel Core i5-2467M processor, up to 8GB memory, ExpressCache system by Diskeeper and AMD Radeon HD graphics card. As a result, the Series 5 ULTRA is able to fast boot in just 20 seconds, wake up in 2 seconds, whilst web browsing is twice as fast as the previous generation notebook PCs.

Lenovo Debuts ThinkCentre M77 Desktop

Today, Lenovo announced the ThinkCentre M77 desktop, built for business professionals who want a powerful, secure, energy efficient yet easy to use computer to tackle everyday office tasks.

Available in either tower or small form factor, the ThinkCentre M77 desktop can be configured to meet the specific needs of end-users. As one of Lenovo’s Enhanced Experience 2.0 desktops, the ThinkCentre M77 desktop boots up in less than 30 seconds. Additionally, to keep multi-taskers happy, the desktop comes equipped with SATA III, which enables hard drive data transfer at up to twice the speed of SATA II.

The desktop’s optional AMD Radeon discrete graphics bring visuals to life, and via AMD Evefinity technology, the ThinkCentre M77 desktop can support up to four displays, including its primary monitor. Additionally, it includes DisplayPort for exporting high definition video content to view on another device, while retaining VGA output for standard video. The desktop also comes fully loaded with features like:

Microsoft and Samsung Unveil the Next Generation of Surface

Samsung Electronics and Microsoft  unveiled the next generation of the Microsoft Surface experience featuring PixelSense technology, which gives LCD panels the power to see without the use of cameras. Building from the innovation of the first version of Microsoft Surface and Samsung’s leading display technology, it is now possible for people to share, collaborate and explore together using a large, thin display that recognizes fingers, hands and other objects placed on the screen. This experience will come to life in the Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface for business customers later in 2011 in 23 countries.

Samsung SUR40 Features:

• PixelSense. PixelSense gives an LCD display the power to recognize fingers, hands and objects placed on the screen, including more than 50 simultaneous touch points. With PixelSense, pixels in the display see what’s touching the screen and that information is immediately processed and interpreted.
• Microsoft Surface software.
