Microsoft has released new security tool called Microsoft Safety Scanner, a replacement for Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner, which lets you scan Windows PC for any infections. It is a free and standalone tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
Microsoft Safety Scanner offers 3 scanning modes: Quick Scan, Full Scan and Customized scan. It doesn’t offers any real-time protection just like Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, so it is not a replacement for using an antivirus software program that provides ongoing protection.
Although everything looks fine with this tool but the only drawback of this security tool is that it expires after 10 days of download, so you need to re-download this software for latest anti-malware updates which surely is a headache!
