Samsung Galaxy Nexus now available on Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless, Samsung and Google announced Galaxy Nexus is available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and for $299.99 with a new two-year customer agreement.

Galaxy Nexus runs Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, which brings an entirely new look and feel to Android. Galaxy Nexus offers customers a redesigned user experience with improved multi-tasking, notifications, Near Field Communications (NFC) sharing with Android Beam and a full Web-browsing experience. The lock screen, home screen, phone app and everything in between have been rethought and redesigned to make Android simple, beautiful and useful. Sprint gets 4G LTE, Galaxy Nexus, LG Viper and Sierra Wireless Tri-Network Hotspot

Sprint today announced the initial group of devices that will operate on its 4G LTE network – Galaxy Nexus , boasting a pure Google experience, LG Viper 4G LTE with eco-friendly features and Sierra Wireless Tri-Network Hotspot, 3G, 4G and 4G LTE mobile hotspot.

On Jan. 5, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse announced that customers in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are expected to be among the first to benefit from 4G LTE and improved 3G coverage in the first half of 2012. Additional areas that will receive 3G enhancements and 4G LTE expansion in 2012 will be announced later in the year.

Approximately 15 4G LTE devices are currently on track to be launched in 2012 including handsets, tablets and data cards. Additionally, 4G devices, including HTC EVODesign 4G, Samsung Epic& 4G Touch and Nexus S 4G, will continue to be sold in 2012.

Samsung has today confirmed the availability of a white variant of the Galaxy Nexus in the UK. The first smartphone to feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy Nexus White can be bought in a range of stores across the country from February 13th.

The Galaxy Nexus White offers all the features found in the original Galaxy Nexus, from the 4.65'' HD Super AMOLED display which boasts a resolution of 720p (1280x720), to the 5 megapixel camera and super-fast 1.2GHz dual core processor and HSPA+ connectivity.

Sprint is rolling out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The update will be delivered over the air, includes Jelly Bean and various improvements. The update also adds Google Now, and removes support for Adobe Flash Player.

Galaxy Nexus boasts a Pure Google experience, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED contour display and dual cameras.

As an extra bonus, Sprint customers who activate a Google Wallet account within a week of activation of their Galaxy Nexus will receive a $10 instant credit on their Google Wallet account and an additional $40 credit within three weeks.

Samsung today launched the Galaxy Note with LTE, Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy Tab 8.9 with LTE in Korea. The Galaxy Note releasing in Korea is LTE capable with 1.5GHz dual-core processor, running Android Gingerbread featuring 5.3" HD Super AMOLED display, a large 32GB internal memory, 8MP camera, 2500mAh capacity battery, high-speed Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, NFC short-range communication technology.

On the same day Samsung also launched Galaxy Nexus which is the world-first smartphone running Icecream Sandwich OS, featuring 1.2GHz dual-core, a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0, and Galaxy Tab 8.9 which is the first LTE capable tablet in Korea running Google's Android platform in the 1.5GHz dual honeycomb cores.

It takes couple of hours after activation for update to appear which bring you Android 4.0.2 build ICL53F. This 10.7MB update brings you the following improvements and fixes-

Verizon rolls out Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update for Galaxy Nexus

Starting today, Verizon has started rolling out Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Nexus in phases.

The new software update includes a new Gesture Keyboard along with the option to place widgets on the lock screen such as Calendar, Gmail and Clock, and other enhancements . It also includes new camera features such as photosphere to take 360 degree panoramic pictures that can easily be shared with friends, also has a new tool to add filters and borders, further customizing pictures.

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.4 Update ready to roll out

Looks like Google and Verizon is ready to roll out the Android 4.0.4 software update (IMM76K) for Galaxy Nexus by Samsung. The 39.8 MB update bring the following improvements and fixes:-

Email, Messaging & Data

  • Email messages will display properly when the text size is set to large.
  • When sending a multimedia message to an Outlook email address, the file extension will send, allowing the recipient to successfully open an image.
  • Successfully deleted emails on the device will be deleted from the desktop as well.
  • Successfully send text messages without experiencing network connectivity issues.

Applications

  • When viewing a Calendar reminder or appointment, you will now be able to view the full notes associated with the appointment.
  • A down arrow has been added in the Calendar application that will expand the calendar message body, allowing you to view the entire message.

Device Features

  • Successfully turn on Wi-Fi using the Power Control widget.
  • Updates have been made to prevent the display from freezing or becoming unresponsive.
  • Complete calls without experiencing choppy audio, clicking noises and one-way audio noises.
  • Successfully access Voicemail and other automated systems without error.

Verizon Galaxy Nexus getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update

Verizon Wireless today announced Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software upgrade (version JRO03O), for Galaxy Nexus by Samsung. The Jelly Bean upgrade will be pushed out in phases over Wi-Fi only and it adds features such as Google Now, improved voice search and dictation, more useful notifications, a better keyboard, and many others.

You can check if the software is available for their device by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. If the upgrade is available, a notification will be displayed and you will need to connect to a Wi-Fi network to complete the download (size: 146.6MB).

Motorola DROID 4 expected to Launch on Decmeber 8th with Galaxy Nexus?

Looks like DROID 4 making its way into the stores with Galaxy Nexus?  According to leaked screenshot from the Verizon’s inventory system, the DROID 4 is scheduled for a December 8 release, along with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Motorola DROID 4 which was leaked in pics sports a large 4-inch Super AMOLED Advanced capacitive touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, which is ‘illuminated’, as well as LTE support. It is powered by Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread and packs an 8-megapixel rear camera and a secondary front facing camera.

The release date has yet to be confirmed by the carrier.

Android 4.0.4 rolls out to UMTS/GSM Nexus S, Xoom Wi-Fi, and HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus

Google has officially announced that it is rolling out Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich, to UMTS/GSM Nexus S, Xoom Wi-Fi, and HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus device. The latest update includes "stability improvements, better camera performance, smoother screen rotation, improved phone number recognition and more." Google also says that more devices will get ICS update in the coming weeks.

Sprint confirms Epic 4G Touch, Nexus S and others to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Sprint released an official statement to confirm that Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch. Nexus S including others will get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update in 2012.

Sprint will begin to roll out Google's latest version of Android™, Ice Cream Sandwich, to our customers in 2012. Ice Cream Sandwich will be available via an over-the-air update to a variety of devices including Galaxy™ S II, Epic™ 4G Touch and Nexus S™ and other key products in our line-up. Stay tuned for more details and exact timing.

Sprint users with Android device will have to wait for an unknown period of time to receive Android 4.0 ICS update.
