Sony Announced Xperia SP and Xperia L

Sony Mobile Communication announced two new Xperia Smartphone - Xperia SP and Xperia L.

Xperia SP features Super-bright 4.6-inch 1280x720p HD Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, an 8MP camera on the back "Exmor RS for mobile", NFC, LTE, 1.7 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960Pro Dual Core processor and 8GB internal memory expandable via microSD card. Xperia L

A 4.3-inch Xperia L packs an FWVGA display, dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8230 processor, 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), NFC and an 8 megapixel camera with Sony’s unique “Exmor RS for mobile” sensor technology and front facing VGA camera.

Both Xperia SP and Xperia L comes in black, white, and red color option running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, will be available worldwide from Q2 2013.

Sony unveils Xperia Z, Available from Phones 4U on March 1st

Sony announced its new flagship Android handset – the Sony Xperia Z, with a 5-inch Full HD 1080p Reality Display, a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 13 MP camera and 4G LTE- will launch globally in Q1 2013.

In selected markets, a design variant of Xperia Z – Xperia ZL – will also be released in Q1 2013. Xperia ZL delivers the same immersive entertainment experiences as Xperia Z but in a smaller form factor.

Xperia Z and Xperia ZL will launch on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and will be upgraded to 4.2 shortly after launch for the latest Android user experience.

Sony Introduces Xperia E

Sony announced a new affordable addition to its Xperia smartphone range, Xperia E which will be available in both single and dual SIM versions from Q1 2013.

Xperia E is a compact and competitively priced smartphone, powered by 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, features a 3.5 inch TFT (320 x 480 pixels) display, 512MB of RAM, a 3.2MP auto focus camera, VGA front camera, HD Voice quality, Walkman music experience with xLOUD and 3D surround sound and Wireless DLNA connectivity.

It will also be available in a dual SIM version – Xperia E dual, launches initially on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and will be upgraded to Android 4.1 (Jellybean).

Xperia E will be available in black, white and pink and Xperia E dual in black and gold.

Sony and Box renew partnership, offering 50GB Free storage through 2013

Sony today announced that it has extended its partnership with Box, offering lifetime 50GB of Free cloud storage for Xperia smartphone and Sony tablet users, by signing-up or accessing existing Box accounts from their devices before 31st December 2013. However, do note that the offer available for Xperia smartphones including and released after Xperia X10, but not for Xperia X10 mini, X10 mini pro and devices with Android versions prior to 2.1.

Sony rolls out update for Xperia T and Xperia TX

Sony today announced that starting this week it will begin rolling out latest Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0.4) firmware update for Xperia T and Xperia TX. The new update adds screen mirroring through Miracast; provided you have a WiFi enabled TV or Sony recommends the Netgear dongle (PTV3000) for those TVs without built-in wireless capabilities. The update also include Extended Standby Mode feature that shuts off WiFi, or data traffic temporarily and most applications become inactive when screen has been in sleep mode.

The upgrade also brings new improvements to Sony’s media applications – a movie app with a small viewing window, controls and film gallery, photo album makes use of Sony's full image processing engine and HD Voice support for Xperia T (but not Xpeia TX)

Sony Xperia TL available from AT&T beginning November 2nd

AT&T today announced that the Sony Xperia TL will be available online and in stores beginning November 2nd for $99.99 with a new two-year agreement.

Sony Xperia TL packs 1.5GHz dual-core S4 processor, runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, LTE connectivity, a 4.6-inch HD reality display (1280 x 720) powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and NFC.

Featured in the upcoming James Bond cinema release Skyfall, Xperia TL will come preloaded with exclusive Bond content which includes behind the scenes footage, interviews, clips, wallpapers, ring tones, and more.

Sony Xperia V packs sensor-on-lens Touch Screen Technology

Sony in its blog post revealed that Sony Xperia V packs innovative sensor-on-lens touch screen technology, which means that the number of physical layers in the touch panel (handset stackup) is reduced, as the sensor layer is actually part of the lens itself. This in turn means that you will get better image quality, as there is no interference from the touch sensor component.

PlayStation Network Scheduled Maintenance starts Tomorrow in Europe

Sony in a blog post announced that the PlayStation Network is all set to go offline for scheduled maintenance from 16:00 on Thursday 26th July 2012 until 08:00 on Friday 27th July 2012, BST. During the maintenance, you will be unable to access PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP and PS Vita, Account Management and Account Registration. Those who are looking to play online can still do so - as long as they are signed in to PSN before maintenance starts.

Music Unlimited Service Android Mobile and Tablet Apps Updated

Sony released new updates for its Music Unlimited Service Android smartphones and tablets apps. Music Unlimited Android Tablet app v1.4 delivers Offline Playback, giving users the ability to enjoy music even when a 3G or Wi-Fi connection isn’t available, or when they want to conserve battery life or curb data usage.

Music Unlimited Android Mobile app v1.4 update let users to access the "My Channels" feature which gives them the ability to create and control customized radio stations built around a favorite artist. New update also includes 30 second "preview mode" available without any account and adds move APK to SD card on supported devices.

Both the Music Unlimited app for tablets and smartphones are free to download from Google Play store though some features require a monthly subscription in order to access them.

Sony unveils Android 4.0 Walkman F800 series and slimmest E470 series

Sony today announced the new line of Walkman Players Walkman F800 Series with Android 4.0 and Walkman E470 Series, the slimmest model in Walkman history.

The new Walkman models offer access to more than 14 million songs with Sony Entertainment Network’s cloud-based Music Unlimited Service. As part of a simple monthly subscription, Music Unlimited lets users transfer their favorite songs and ad-free radio channels to their Walkman device for a world of music discovery even when offline. Making it easy for users to load up existing media, Walkman supports drag-and-drop transfer of music, photos, videos, podcasts and playlists from iTunes for Windows via Media Go software or Windows Media Player.

Users can also keep their music in tune with their mood with SenseMe technology by automatically categorizing music tracks into different channels.

Walkman F800 Series

For an on-the-go entertainment experience, the new Android 4.0 powered Walkman F800 Series offers a generous range of pre-installed apps, from email to maps and media gallery, a 3.5-inch multi-touch screen and NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processer.

Users enjoy crisp highs and full, thumping bass powered by S-Master Digital Amplifier from Sony that cuts distortion and unpleasant clipping for clearer listening. And with a dedicated W. button, you can now jump to the music application while gaming or browsing the web and enjoy full playback and control their music collection.

The Walkman F800 Series is also more than just a music player. The ability to connect to Bluetooth enabled speakers, headphones, hi-fi systems or car stereos is also useful at home or on the go.

The 16GB F800 Series will retail for about $269.99 and the 32GB will retail for about $299.99.

The 4GB E470 Series will retail for about $79.99, the 8GB for about $89.99 and the 16GB for about $109.99.

Sony's Music Unlimited Service Launches in Japan

Sony's Music Unlimited service launched in the UK and Ireland in December 2010 and has finally launched in Japan, priced at 1,480 yen per month.

Key Features of “Music Unlimited”

  1. A variety of preset music channels
    Users can enjoy 57 music channels categorized by genre, era, Premium channels with various Top 100 channels, as well as mood (“Relax,” “Morning,” and more) based on SensMe, Sony's proprietary 12 Tone Analysis technology to evaluate music tracks. Furthermore, users can use My Channel to create artist-inspired channels to enjoy music from that artist and other similar artists.
  2. Personalization
    By studying users' 'like/dislike' song ratings, “Music Unlimited” adapts to users' music preferences to offer the most compatible and enjoyable songs from the cloud. Therefore, the more users use the service, the more opportunities they have to discover new songs and artists.
  3. Synchronized music experience across all devices

Sony announces XQD S Series memory card

Sony today announced the new XQD S Series memory card which offers the read/write transfer speeds of 168MB/s (actual speed), outpaces the maximum interface speed limit of Compact Flash cards (167 MB/s).

A high-speed driver for the MRW-E80 XQD card reader is available now for free download at http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/mrw-e80

Also available, free driver software allows XQD memory cards to be used with the latest Thunderbolt-enabled computers through a compatible card reader.

From August, XQD S Series users can also download free new version of File Rescue, Ver 3.2, software by Sony, allowing recovery of accidentally-deleted photos and videos. It’s the world’s first file recovery utility that now supports latest AVCHD and 3D formats as well as RAW and MOV files. File Rescue software is also available for XQD H Series users.

The new XQD S Series memory card is available with 64GB capacity from July 2012. A 32GB card will also be available later in 2012 (September/October).

The ICS update will be available Over the air  or you can also update your device using a computer – either with web-based Xperia Update, PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.

AT&T today announced that it will be offering 4G LTE Android smartphone the Xperia ion from Sony on June 24th for $99 with a two-year agreement.

Sony unveils Xperia miro and Xperia tipo

Earlier this week, Sony teased us with an upcoming Xperia smartphone and today it announced two new Xperia smartphones, Xperia miro and Xperia tipo. Both running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Xperia miro is a slim (113 x 59.4 x 9.9 mm), stylish smartphone with deep Facebook integration with contacts, gallery and the music player for sharing and discovery. It features 3.5-inch (320 x 480px) display, 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor, 4GB internal memory,  5MP camera with flash, front VGA camera, Bluetooth, WiFi and a micro SD card slot. Xperia tipo

Xperia tipo is a simple and easy to use smartphone experience targeting consumers who may be purchasing their first smartphone. It will be available in two edition – regular one and dual SIM version – Xperia tipodual in red, white, blue and black color option. Sony to announce Next Xperia Smartphone in 9 days

Sony is all set to announce its new Xperia smartphone -- for the first time allowing fans to decide actually when its going to happen. The official release date is set for June 22nd but anyone who visits Sony facebook page and click on "fast forward button", will bring the next Xperia announcement that little bit closer.

Sony launches web-based Reader Store and update Android Reader App

Sony launched an online reader store and refreshes Android Reader App. New web based Reader Store now allows you to access your Reader Store account from any web browser, and sign in and purchase content without having to install any software to your computer.

Any e-Books purchased will be ready-to-read on the Reader app or wireless device. Reader Store eBooks also working on any Adobe DRM-supported apps and devices.

Sony also launched a new update for the Android Reader App, now available for download at Google Play features a sharper user interface, landscape viewing capabilities and an overall improved stability.
